The Pitlochry Dam with a Salmon Ladder is a large hydroelectric dam built on the River Tummel creating a new loch call Faskally.

Built between 1947 and 1951 it is constructed by steel and concrete with a space of 145 meter to house two Kaplan Turbines each with a capacity of 7.5mw which is impressive considering there is only 15 meters head of water. This is enough to power upto 15,000 homes.

The dam does have a visitor centre which is open during the summer periods, its has a cafe, education centre with information of the dam and its purpose within the Perthshire large system.
