Richards of Aberdeen was a textile company based at the Broadford Works just off Hutcheon Street in Aberdeen.

Broadford Works was the oldest iron frame mill in Scotland and the last remaining textile mill in Aberdeen. At its height it there were more than 3,000 people working at the mill.

Richards was purchased in 2002 by ian Suttie, chief execultive of First Oil whilst facinf receivership. In 2003 the company moved its headquarters to the outskirts of Aberdeen with some asssitance from Aberdeen City Council.

A year later in 2004 52 jobs were announced to be at risk and made redundant, soon after in 2005 the entire remaining workforce of 196 people were to go. Many had worked at the mill there whole lives.

The mill has since its closure sat unused and been a focal point for youths. There are plans to make the site into an urban village with 398 homes but so far very little site activities have started.
