Netherton Hub - Netherton/Flushing Straight A950 - February 2026

Some aerial pictures of the starting progress on the Netherton Hub which is going to be a huge complex being built as part of the SSEN and Governments drive for net zero. This is going to be a connection point for a number of electrical lines from subsea cables and other sources of power.

A large amount of farm land and housing was acquired through compulsory purchase with planning submissions being made to Aberdeenshire Council for demolition of these houses and outbuildings.

Netherton Hub is a key component of SSEN Transmission’s programme of grid upgrades across

the north of Scotland. Located to the west of Peterhead near Longside, the Hub will contain 400kV

and 132kV substations, converter stations for the Spittal to Peterhead, Eastern Green Link 3 and

Eastern Green Link 5 subsea cable projects, a spares warehouse and operations base
